In these dates there are many people doing an internship and many of them may want to stay where they are, because they liked the job. Here you have some tips to convert your internship in a full-time job:
1. Focus on your current position.
Try to learn as much as you can and finish your work on time. First of all, your superior has to see that you can do your current job to consider you could do more.
2. Good attendance and punctuality are essential.
Showing up 5 minutes early and leaving 5 minutes after your shift can turn into a fortune of extra income over your lifetime when you are the one that gets the promotion.
3. Make sure others know you are doing well.
Ensuring your manager is aware of your achievements and if you receive positive feedback from a client, let him or her know too. However, try not to be a “brown-nose”, always in moderation.
4. Attend events (or make your own) and become popular.
Try to know people from other departments. Maybe there is no full-time position in your group, and maybe there is one in another department similar to where you are working. Be kind and helpful to your co-workers, supervisors, and underlings.
5. Be indispensable
Make your boss believe that he or she cannot afford to lose you. Try to be visible by racing out. The trick is to get people to come to the conclusion that you are successful without bragging.
6. Be confident.
If you do not believe in yourself, no one will. It is a very recurrent advice, but it wouldn’t be so popular if it wasn’t so useful. This will help you to gain skills and qualifications far beyond what your current job requires, and your employer may see keeping you in that job as a waste of your talents.
7. Ask for the job.
Finally tell your manager and/or HR contact that you’re interested in a full-time position (make sure you know exactly whom to ask and when). If you are a student who won’t be taking full-time jobs till after the next academic semester or year, the company may overlook putting you in the system or confirming an offer for after you graduate.
