The most internationally recognised food festival in Ireland will take place from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th September 2012! 
A host of tantalising events to whet your appetite will take place in Galway City, to celebrate the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival 2012.
The Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival is held to celebrate Galway’s rich annual oyster harvest. Irish and World Oyster Opening Championships are held during the festival, as well as superb banquets, top class entertainment, celebrated hospitality, the start of many new friendships, flowing champagne and of course, rich, creamy Guinness!
The World Oyster Opening Championship features contestants from every continent competing for the World title and valuable prizes. Again, the competitors are expected to open 30 oysters. Points are awarded for the speed of opening!
It has been described by the Sunday Times as “one of the 12 greatest shows on earth” and was listed in the AA Travel Guide one of Europe’s Seven Best Festivals!
